Default Internal wiring mini-apes... PLEASE HELP!

Yooo friends! It's winter so once again I'm getting in over my head and trying to make some changes to my Nightster. I've installed and moved everything around on my own so far so I want to tackle this too without having to take it in.

I've seen stuff where people have cut wires but I was curious if there is a way to just disconnect the wires from the deutsch connector? Once the wires are either cut or disconnected... All that's left should be running the wires through the bars and then connecting them again right?

This picture is where I'm at and I'm looking for advice on the best way to go from here. I would appreciate any help any if you could give!

You don't have to cut. Search youtube. There are a few videos on how to remove the wires from the connector. Sorry I didn't link. Hope this helped.

Your manual will tell you how to remove those pins

It's actually really easy when you know how to do it
Did it myself a week ago when working on my front indicators. I use a tiny flat head screwdriver, the kind a watchmaker would use. I find it harder using a paper clip as some others use.
Just remember that there are a few things to do with the connector before you can start tooling and pulling the wires out!
For example, in your first pic you have that beige connector, open up the tabs on the black part of the connector and slide that back over the wires, inside there will be a rubber seal, pry that loose and slide that back as well. Now look inside the connector from the other end, there will be a plastic part, get your needle nose pliers and grab it in the two holes in the middle and pull it out. The wires will not come out with it so don't worry. Now you can use that thin flat head to open and lift the tabs inside that locks the pins inside the connector (see the link below) and out they come! And most important...do NOT forget to make a diagram or take pics of which wire goes in where!

Hope this can help you out!

If your installing taller bars you will have to cut the wires so that they can be extended. Otherwise, you can take out the deutcsh connectors. There was an article in American Iron magazine a few months ago on it.

Wires don't have to be cut to be extended. Get the wires out of the connector, put female pins on the extensions, push them together with the switch house wires, put male pins on the other end of the extensions, feed wires thru the bars and then push them (male pin side of course) back in the connector, done.

Or cut, solder and heat shrink as I did with mine, doesn't have to be done this way as explained above, but this way you'll end up with a much smaller connection part (less than half) between the org wires and the extensions. This will eliminate you accidentally pulling the wires apart when feeding them true the bars and also there will be a much smaller area that will have to bend going thru hard bends inside the bars.

Now the story doesn't tell what kind of bars he's getting...

Dudes I can't thank you enough for all of the help... I've got a set of mini apes on the bike right now. All the wires are the perfect length because I'm not swapping them out. I'm almost finished with the project thanks to all of your advice! After looking at the info that was given I got the connectors apart. If I had to do it all again I could get this finished in no time but since it is my first time for every 5 minutes of work I actually did... I spent another 10 in a dead stare thinking what did I get myself into haha.

Question... Do all the wires always have giant black tubing that is way too big wrapping it?! I could have pulled the wires through so much easier without it! Or maybe the holes I drilled weren't big enough???

Glad it's working out for you!

About the tubing...that will give the wires some extra protection and I wouldn't get rid of it. If you pull the wires through without it you might damage the plastic protection surrounding the wire itself. Then you'll have an open line touching the metal bars and you'll end up with a short. And that would really suck!
