Default Reasonable price?

new to the forum and looking to buy a sportster to start riding. i have a buddy thatis willing to sell me his 2003 anniversary 883 hugger. it has only 766 miles on it and never dropped it. it has a windshield and some chrome on the air filter and dipstick. does anyone think 5,500 dollars is a steal/fair/ or rip off.

thanks

Welcome to the forums buck.

That wouldn't be a bad deal, butI gotta wonder why it only has 766 miles on it? I hope he stored it correctly.

wow, thanks for the quick replies. i should maybe add it has stock pipes. low miles bc he bought it for his wife (who never rode it). also, the guy owns 4 bikes and kept it in the garage so i am confident it was stored properly. i fired it up when i looked at it and cant stop thinking about buying my first harley...but i don't have a clue about pricing.

Since he's your buddy he is probably not going to screw you with junk unless he's a creep. The deal you mentioned doesnt seem like a steal but I dont think it's outrageous either. Might want to offer him $4500 and see where you wind up on a final price. I am sure he is willing to come down a little....Good luck.

seems fair to me,if I could have got an 03' Ann for $4500 I probably would have bought 2 a few weeks ago, check the local dealers and see what they are offering,I know here it's mid 90's 883's for $4500 there with 15-30K miles[8D]

I agree with Warrior go 4500-5000 I sold my 03 883 custom with pipes and air cleaner for it had 1700 miles and the dealer gave me 5000 for it and it sold for more than the hugger new...Also, remember for 100 more you could buy a new 07 883 get FI and a 2 year warranty
