Hi folks, I keep my iron outside under a car port so although it cant get rained on it gets damp. It has an oxford waterproof cover on it too but noticed other day that the black pipe that links the two exhauts together has rust on, my brake discs also gone rusty and brake pad pins and the silver strips on the wheel spokes have like a white anodised rust on them is this normal for you guys that have a cold wet winter??
Same here in damp Derbyshire. Periodic cleaning and polishing and a good coat of wax keeps problems to a minimum. Expect to spend a lot of time shining up after the winter!
I coated in acf50 and sure I done the wheels, anyway I will give a full clean/wax/acf50 and see how it goes? Gutted cos silver strips on spokes have no shine now. Good old British weather!
If bike's being stored...coat these metal surfaces with "Never Dull" and don't buff it out. This applies a light coat of oil and then you can wash off when riding season hits full swing.
