I'm thinking of 14" burly apes for my 883 iron,what I wanted to know do they ever slip in the risers as I've heard with high apes you might have to pin them.Any help or info would be great.
Thanks guys one other thing if I went with 14" burly apes could I get the 12" burly cable kit as I've heard that they are to long like for like.
The kit is made for bikes with 2" risers. My 48 has 0" rise so for me 12" kit with 14" bars would be perfect. Your iron has 2" risers but to be honest I think you could get away with a 12" kit. But if you consider going even "higher" in the future I would do the 14" kit.
I have the Burly 14" bars w/ 14" wiring, mine have slipped a couple times. The last time I re-torqued the clamp I used Loctite on the bolts and they haven't moved since. Here's a pic of mine, you can see there is a bit of extra slack on the cables:
