I'm not quite sure what your big shoulders have to do with anything but I agree with most here... Just ride and enjoy the experience! Maybe I'll see you there. It will be my first time there too and first rally of any kind. I'll be riding my Forty-Eight from New Mexico and will be loving every moment of it!

I rode Yamahas and Suzukis for 25 years including quite a few times to Sturgis before I got my first Harley. Believe me when I tell you no one will have the slightest attitude about your bike. The only place I see that kind of stuff is on internet forums.

I know two people who rode two-up to Sturgis in one day on a 1200 from Milwaukee. I have to admit that they were young and liked each other a lot.

You have nothing to worry about.. There are so many bikes of all makes/models at these rallies it won't matter. Have fun and be proud. There are a ton of sportys at these large events.

Hate to tell you this but there was NOT a Sportster made in '55. Your thinking of the K model.

I'm a tall guy, and I've had two Sportsters: An '02 883R and my current '05 XL1200C, that oh by the way I traded an '01 ROAD KING for. The only people who have ever said anything negative about my Sportys were (A) jackass coworkers who've never owned or ridden a motorcycle before, and (B) people on internet forums.
