I recently had an experience with my '06 1200 Low. I was motoring down the road when the lights cut off and the speedometer went to zero. I blipped the throttle and the lights came back on and the speedo jumped back to 40. A few minutes later the same thing but both times the motor kept running. This tells me that the ignition must be direct from the alternator not the battery.
Anybody know for sure?
Another thing, anybody have the link to that fabulous video of the Harley doing those "hypnotic" slides? That guy was really good with that sporty.
Ignition comes from your battery, not the alternator. Check both your main battery cables, at both ends. Remove the fixing bolts, clean if necessary, grease with dialectic grease and reassemble. Let us know if that cures it. Next step is doing the same for the ignition circuit wiring.
Did tighten wires everything working fine thanks.
what I don't get is how the motor kept running amd responded to the throttle when the battery was disconnected and the lights and speedo were out. Thanks for help
You really should take the wire off and clean them with some sandpaper or a cardboard fingernail file. They build up a corrosion or tarnish that will keep the connection from being good. Even if tightened they can still not have a good connection if the scale is present.
