I was curious, I have an '06 Sportster 883, it currently has a hoop style engine guard and mid controls, I want to add forward controls to it....some of the forward controls I'm looking at say they cannot be used in conjunction with an engine guard? I'm wondering how come? My engine guard doesn't look like it bolts to the same location as the forward controls would, so why can't they be used together? Or is it just that particular one? I'd hate to buy one that doesn't say I can't use my engine guard, and find out it doesn't work, as I kind of like my engine guard, I even have highway pegs on it. Any ideas?
The Harley engine guard works just fine with the Harley forward controls.
I wouldn't waste my money on any forward control kit other than the genuine HD kit. There's several aftermarket forward control kits on the market, particularly online like eBay, that are nothing but Chinese junk.

Thanks man! The one I seen that said it won't work with forward controls was on Ebay, but I already decided I wasn't going to use it.....I was just curious if that was true with all forward controls, or just the crap on ebay.
I had to modify my engine gaurd bottom bracket to work but it does work. on my 2000 the engine guard and the forward controles use the same mounting hole on the bottom attachment. I modified the bracket to use a hole just under the stock hole. I did it by cutting the bracket in half and adding a 2 inch drop to it.

I have the exact same problem. I know it's been a very long time but do you have any photos of how you installed the engine guard?
Thanks!!
