Bad IAC motor?
I have been chasing a problem that is becoming a nuisance! Have an 09 HD Sportster XL1200L. It runs fine at higher speeds, but it seems to want to "surge" at lower speeds. It threw an error code sometime back which indicated a bad IAC motor. I cleaned it and there was an improvement. Now, I'm still dealing with the same problem. I'm just wondering how a bad IAC motor will effect the running of the bike. I have ruled out any blockage or bad fuel problems. Tried several kinds of fuel, and always burn 93 octane. I am careful not to "lug it " too. This is a fuel injected motor, have cycle shack slip ons, and have drilled out the stock air cleaner for more air. Even tried a " screamin Eagle " air cleaner. I noticed more horsepower, but still did not solve the problem. Need help...

Usually a bad iac will have a high idle and won't drop the rpms down when warmed up or just an erratic idle in general. You make no mention of having a tuner or other form of a richer afr.
