Congrats on your first HD!
Like said, break it in, then ride how you want. You can cruise all day at 65 mph with no problem....they are just barely stretching their legs at 3600 rpm.

Is this a serious post???? If you had reservations about whether or not it will "melt down", then why did you buy it???

Don't sweat it dude! The only instances of melt down that have been recorded have been on Canadian high....
