Default New shock decision

I'm ready to swap my stock shocks for a set of progressive 444's for my XL1200C I've read every thread that has come thru. My question is size. I'm 5'-8" 190 and would like to lower a bit. I've seen where 11" would lower but I would get better ride upsizing to 12.5" length. I ride 2 up occasional with my wife 175 any opinions

I don't know about the lowering part but I've had two sets of Progressives, okay shocks but IMO you are better off with Ohlins from Motorcyclemetal.com Howard knows how to set up a shock that actually works for less than you might think.

He also sells JRI now, both brands will knock spots off the rest, especially when carrying the most important passenger in the World! Don't scrimp, buy once.

BZ, I'm 5' 9" and 196, I too have a 1200-C. I run Progressive 13.5" 440 standards and a Sundowner seat. I can stand at a red light and easily clear the seat. Remember that the longer shocks raise the bike slightly less than half the additional length. I installed LAChopper lowering blocks at first but they place the lower shock pivot point behind the axle making for a choppy ride on small bumps even with the quality ride offered by the 440's. The lowering blocks lay on a shelf no longer used.
