I've read that member 4T8 makes forward controls. You might check him out.
Is that a 1200L? Very nice bike. What seat is that? Looks much more comfy than my HD seat.
Yes an "L" model, when I bought this sportster, they had two of them, one for him and one for his wife, each with different seats. I wanted the blk bike, but the more comfortable seat off the maroon bike, so the guy switched them. SO, I'm not sure what brand that seat is? I have seen that same seat on a LOT of different sportsters around here though, so it's fairly common in this area...
I have to say, I was surprised at the answers I got here, I some how thought there would be a clear "after market" winner! lol My hips are telling me I need those forward controls soon, so I may just pony up for the HD controls...
But...if you're gonna do it, just get some used HD controls off eBay or craigslist.
No they dont. It depends on the rider. I personally don't care for that foot position in terms of control over tge bike. I feel more planted and a feel like I have better balance with mids. Especially when riding like an a$$4013.

I agree. I have also tried heel shifting it generally does not work for me. Its unsettling. Hell, I used to freak out when the pull tab on my doc martens or the cuff of my jeans would get caught up with the shifter.
OP- i'd try (ebay ) highway pegs (the adjustable ones) first. Or go test ride something with forwards at the dealer.
But, if you are sure. Pull the trigger on the dealer forwards. Investigate the amout of work involved first though. You may be able to do it yourself and save about 200 - 300 bucks.
I love forward controls. I agree with the others on brand choice though.. I'd only use HD forwards. I've seen aftermarket controls break, that's not something you want breaking.
Ha so many jimmies rustled in this thread over one comment.
Is every opinion supposed to start with "In my opinion..."?
In my opinion you guys all sound like a bunch of old men, "my hips hurt, my knees hurt, etc."
In my opinion mids give better control of the bike, regardless of whether you can "scrape the pegs" with forwards, and in my opinion they give a cleaner, cooler look.
cubalz...nice way to leave out the helpful content in my post to focus on something you don't agree with. In my opinion you must work for a cable news channel.
HD forwards are the best way to go none of the aftermarket forwards are near the quality. I added heal rests to mine and have a similar posture as having floor boards on a TC. For me and my riding style they are perfect.

Perhaps I "sound" like an old man, because I am? I have worked hard my whole life, I started working off OUR OWN FARM when I was eleven yrs old, and my body is rather worn out. I've packed too many HEAVY packs on mountain hunts and through the alders/swamps on brown bear hunts. My back and hips are bad and forward controls makes riding my Sportster much more comfortable.
NO ONE said they were for YOU, so why dis my decision to have something for ME?
IF you actually WORK for a living and you aren't some puzzy sitting behind a desk someplace, you will get here too! Then you will know why there's different strokes for different folks!
I bought black big twin forwards with brass swiss cheese pegs from either Demons or Debrix for under three bills. I had to fabricate adapter plates to use them but the look was worth the trouble and I enjoyed designing and fabbing them. Who cares what anyone else's opinions are if you want forwards do it.
