Default Forward Controls Question

Hello to all, new poster here, so I want to say thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I have a "07" Sportster and I'm going to put forward controls on it. I was looking at different ones on amazon and I'm not sure what brand to buy, or should I say, what brand NOT to buy.

Can anyone help me to decide what ones work like the ones Harley sells, as that's the only one I've ever seen/used.

Anyway, here's a pict of my sportster,

Thanks again,

SR

When I was on a sporty I wanted forward controls because I thought they looked cooler. I couldn't afford them so I bought some used highway pegs instead. I quickly learned that you can shift with your heels. Way nicer having the option of either riding position. I have mids now, and now I think mids are the way to go.

I read so many good/bad reviews of all non harley forwards that I didnt buy any. Foudn a set on ebay off a crashed bike someone was parting out. They looked great and I got them for a fraction of what they sell for new (paid $160, harley sells em for $400!!!!)

Ugh. Forward controls suck.

But...if you're gonna do it, just get some used HD controls off eBay or craigslist.

I've read that member 4T8 makes forward controls. You might check him out.

Is that a 1200L? Very nice bike. What seat is that? Looks much more comfy than my HD seat.

Huh? Depending on the length of your legs, forwards are either a Godsend or a hinderance.

Example: I'm 6'-0" and have a 32-33" inseam, and the factory forwards on my Sportster are absolutely essential for my comfort. I can take turns scraping foot pegs and I don't have any control problems whatsoever.

Yet when I ride my sons '02 Sportster with mids? Holy crap, I can just barely get my feet into position, and when I do, my knees are about level with the top of the fuel tank, cramping my legs, making my riding experience difficult and my comfort level non existant. As such, I could very easily say that "mids suck..." but I will have the decency to add that "...they suck, for ME."

Now, I can understand forwards being a problem if a rider is short or the bike has clip-ons, but to make the blanket statement that forwards "suck" is just plain wrong and of no help to this discussion.

=8^)

Yup, that looks like a 1200L with a Sundowner seat.
