Carb pops and sputters
Would my carb do the same thing if the mix was set too rich? Because my plugs get carbon fouled.
I know there are books for all this, and I have 3 of them open right now, but I keep doubting myself because what I believe needs to be done isn't even being considered by someone who has been mech'in Harleys for years.
Thanks for all the help.
A clogged air filter will also make your bike run rich, a quick check is to take your air filter off the bike completely, run it around the block (not too far) and see about the performance. If your bike has alot more power, and the spits and sputters go away you should first start by getting a new air filter and see if that helps. No filter means alot of air mixing with gas, no more rich problem but who can run without a filter? No one should, all it takes is one stick or rock to total your engine if it gets past the filter into your carb. Its a place to start at least.
