You have all the advice you need except advice on avoiding stealerships. Buy the service manual and save your money for better things

I like to substitute the button head bolts that come in the Docking Hardware Kit with bolts made out of all-thread, red Loctite and bungee nuts. These bungee nuts were powder coated black, but I decided the chrome looks better on my bike. It's a little bit of a snug fit in that area, but the utility the bungee bolts offer is worth it.
Don't forget blue Loctite during the docking hardware installation.

I already have a service manual, but it's not applicable to this task.

The local auto parts store brought in a six-inch extension, and I'll be collecting it this evening.
