If you go on Youtube, I believe the channel is Delboy's Garage, he has a video on Sportster clutch adjustment and you can see that not much oil comes out when removing the Sporty derby cover. There is approximately a quart of oil in the bottom of the primary cover for the chain to run through and it doesn't really come up to the level of the derby cover unless it is overfull.
