Default If I open my derby cover does fluid spill out?

Do I drain it to look in there?

If the bike isn't level some will spill. You should have your motorcycle level on a Motorcycle Jack, lift, or even have someone hold it. If you remove the Derby Cover while on the kick stand yes there is a good chance it will spill.

If you go on Youtube, I believe the channel is Delboy's Garage, he has a video on Sportster clutch adjustment and you can see that not much oil comes out when removing the Sporty derby cover. There is approximately a quart of oil in the bottom of the primary cover for the chain to run through and it doesn't really come up to the level of the derby cover unless it is overfull. Hope this helps.

Only a dribble or two that might be clinging to the inside of the cover. The level should be well below the bottom edge of the opening.
