My 2013 Sportster manual calls for 95-105 ft-lbs for the rear axle nut, and 87-130 in-lbs for caliper to mounting bracket.

Cannot say for sure... I would assume the specs would be roughly in the same ballpark.

Hopefully someone else can chime in here for you that has an older manual, just so you can be sure.

I'll bet the specs will be pretty close though, if not identical...

If you aren't in a rush, my bud has a Sportster with a manual close to the year of your friends 883. I'll swing by his place later and publish those figures here if he's home.

When they say a torque range of say..95 in lbs to 105 in lbs for example, what do they mean?

Do they mean you want to get to 105 in lbs or keep it at 95 in lbs? How do you know what range to choose?

thx

The correct rear axle torque spec for 2005 - 2007 Sporties, which have a 1" solid rear axle, is 72 - 78 FT-lbs.

The rear caliper bolt pin is 15 - 18 FT-lbs
The rear caliper mounting bracket bolt pin is 87 - 130 IN-lbs

When it comes to torque ranges I usually use the lower end of the published range. That is, unless it calls for a stepped torquing procedure. Then i'll use the middle of the range and at the last step, use the lower end. It's worked for me.
