Hello fellow riders,
Im new to this forum but glad to be here. im hoping someone can help me here; i have a 2009 iron 883 that i recently brought used at 6000 miles, great buy im happy practically a new bike. after a couple of months the bike started to develop a dry puttering, wheezing sound that parallels the nice rumble of the engine. when i took it to the dealer in washington they weren't very helpful as they "guessed" that since i take it for short trips the oil did not have ample time to warm up and built up condensation, in short i have water in my oil... sounds familiar? while i havent change the oil since buying the bike, will a simple oil change fix the issue?
go take it for a 2 hour ride out in the country and on the highway and see if it goes away...if it doesn't come back here and we will give you some things to look at...
so guys, i gave it all a try, got new air filter changed oil, and new spark plugs and took it for many an hour rides. the bike does respond noticably better but the background sound is still there... like a ssshhhzzzzzz (just say it out loud) kinda like a vacuum clceaner.... now what?
