As I understand it - if you are just upgrading the pipes you shouldn't have to do a download. If you do both Pipes and Air you will need an update so you could either add a PCIII tuner (and you wouldn't need to have an HDdownload)...or you could have the dealer do a download for you and you wouldn't need the PCIII.

Man, this stuff is confusing. So if I put on a set of V&H SS and a Forcewinder I'll need to get a PCIII and dyno tune?

Is getting the PCIII the better option though? I have no plans to do anything above the pipes and A/C. If the download will get me the same result that's great. I don't want to be running lean though and I'd rather pony up the extra dollars to have things done right. With the PCIII does it have to be dyno tuned or are there some in-the-box settings for a typical pipe and A/C set up?

I'm going with a PCIII because I may want to make other changes down the road and really don't want to pay each time for a download. Youwill lose your O2 sensors with the standard PCII for the 07 Sporty..not a big deal from my perspective but something to be aware of. They do have a new EX version out which I believe works with the sensors..however that unit is California Emissions Compatible (if you know what I mean) so I personally wouldn't be using it.

They have downloadable maps available at Dynjet to fine tune your settings but since the FI settings on a Sportster are new they don't have a lot of maps yet. They do have maps for the Screaming Eagle products available now and when I talked to their tech he said they have 07 883 and 1200s in their shop so hopefully they will add more.If you are thinking about the PCIII you may want to call and tell them about your configuration.

They also have dealers that specialize in fine tuning bikes and they can provide custom maps also..of course there's a charge for that.

If you don't plan on making future changes a dealer download would be less expensive (I paid $ 279 for my PCIII through Eastern Performance on Ebay) ..maybe someone here that has done the Harley download on the Sporty can give you more insight.

NOW I'M CONCERNED ALL OVER AGAIN.....

ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS................
First, you worry way too much. Don't worry it will be fine. You have already been told the map will work great and people who had it remapped got great results.

Some people prefer the PC because they can fine tune their bike for other modifications. Usually what you will get out of it (0-2 hp extra) isn't worth the extra $450 it will cost you ($200 extra for the PC + $250 dyno tune). Unless you are doing cams and headwork the PC is really overkill especially since the remap has proven to work very well on that combination with sportsters.

As for that EFI information you posted that was posted for EFI before it was closed-loop. Closed-loop EFI is different. It's actually rumored that you don't need any remaps at all for stage 1. It should be within the parameters to adjust properly.

Thanks for the reassurance.....

your right i do worry alot... i dont want any BS or agrrivation over making the bike a little louder thats all ..... i kept hearing these horror stories about VE....somthing to do with the proper air flow in the engine and running hot because its running too lean and overheating issues.....

I'm headed on a long trip with 8 other guys on May 13th...Mothers day.......we are headed from NJ down through the Smokey Mountains into Tennesse then down to Myrtle Beach then back up the coast home.... arriving home the follwing Sunday.....

I cant wait, and the last thing i needed was a dead bike.....Im so into this trip, cant wait....

should be really nice,,,,, and you know the deal.....I Just Had To Have Loud Pipes For The Ride.....

thanks again...
