BCM Identification?
Hello all,
Looking to upload the newest software update 5138065_20231011 in my 22' Sportster S but not sure if my BCM software is 13.40 or newer. Does anyone know how to check what software version is on the BCM? Any help is appreciated.

Just went by my local HD dealer and explained the situation and that I have the new software update down loaded onto a thumb drive and ready to down load into my Sportster S. All I need to know is the BCM current software. He said there is no way of knowing the BCM's current software update unless it's plugged into their digital technician which will cost me about $50. I told him I am still under the factory warranty. He told me they will do the software updates when you bring it in for service. I told him I do my own service so I guess i'm screwed unless I cough up the $50.
Guess I'll have to take my chances and hope I don't get the DTC U04000 message.

Software download went smooth. Took it for a ride and check engine light came on and now have ECM ID# 002063-01 and EHCU ID# 40800154A. Not sure what those codes are. I googled them and searched for them on this site but not sure of what they are. If anyone knows what those codes are I would appreciate the info.
Did not get the DTC U04000 message. Disconnected the battery. Hoping tomorrow everything will be cleared and running fine.

The ID numbers are nothing to worry about. You have to hit “enter”
to see the actual trouble code(s).
After my upgrade I have code:
U015600 110 Lost communication with inst 1
But, not worried about it. I’m sure it will go away eventually in the spring when riding season is back.

Took a 10 mile run and check engine light was still on when I shut the bike off. When starting it up for a 2nd ride the check engine light is gone. My 22' Sportster S manufacture date is 9/22 if that helps anyone. Not sure when the BCM software 13.40 from the factory was started.
