I talked to a HD service manager local to me and he is verifying what has to be done if anything by converting to the 195/55 car tire from the stock motorcycle tire. When I find out any info I will post here
Many here have been running the 195/60R16 car tires on the rear for some time now. What you need to do.
Pick a tire you like.
Either find a place that will do the work or do it your self. If you plan to mount the tire yourself , do the home work on how to do it right and the easy way.
Decide if you wish to run Ride on in the tire or balance it.
Have it mounted or mount it yourself.
Put it back on the bike and ride.
It will not effect the ABS in any way. The ABS does not know or care what tire you put on it.

One thing when picking a tire for the DS. Make sure it has rounded edges. Too square and they will follow every grove, crack, and imperfection in the road. Also, play with tire pressure, it makes a difference in handling. I ran CT on my Valkyrie for years with no issues.

Is there anyone in Memphis TN that can get a Car Tire mounted on an Electra Glide? Smitty901, are you in or around Memphis too?

BTW, I'm North of Memphis near Shake Rag Bar and Grill. When I left out of here in 1994 when I was stationed here i swore I'd never be back. I went to Naval Air Station Lemoore for 4 years after that and when I left there I swore I'd never work at an airport. 8 years later I'm back in Memphis, worse yet living in Millington, and 10 years after that I'm working at Memphis International Air Traffic Control Tower running around on the airfield dodging FedEx traffic like a wild animal.... Now I SWEAR I will never win the lottery.....

Not for 44 years use to live there. My local HD dealer will mount anything you want . That does not mean yours will. Likely an indy around that will. Unless Memphis has changed a lot plenty of people that did not mind break a rule or two to make a buck.
Please tell me you work in Millington Tower or GCA before the closed it down. Spent a lot of time in Shake rag. We were married in Shelby county court house.

It's currently at Bumpas Harley (local) getting done, but they didn't want to do it. They are supposed to present me with a release of liability paper when they are done. While there are many tire people around I don't trust them just yet because of my lack of specific Harley knowledge. I don't have a service manual yet or a real place to work on it yet because the Auto Skills Shop (hobby shop) on base is still closed because of the corona virus. I'm hoping that this tire will be the only one I will have to have someone do entirely. Taking wheels off of motorcycles might be a chore, but if I have a manual or instructions then I am sure that I can do it myself.

I don't work in Millington tower or anything that is considered traffic control. I do however work on the lighted navigation in Millington the rest of the equipment is non-federal, meaning that the FAA certifies the lighted navigation system at the approach end of the runway (theres only one now) because that's a city owned "Jetport" since the Navy Brac'ed the Northside of the base and gave it back to the city. I was a crypto guy in the Navy for a my first tour working on the system that John Walker compromised by giving secrets to the Russians, then I became a Ground radar guy, mostly short range Airport Surveillance Radar and Precision Approach landing radars. In the FAA's infinite wisdom they made me a Power/Environmental guy. Didn't hurt that I worked as a contractor for the FAA with the company that made almost all of the Uninterruptible Power Supply's for them (7.5 Kilowatt to 16 Megawatt and larger). I'm working for the FAA at the Memphis International Air Traffic Control Tower now.

I Literally drive past the shakerag twice a day to and from work. I live within walking, or stumbling distance from there. It's on its third building because of fire damage. It's actually not a dump any more. Well its still a dump but its got new floors.

I am on a ride in TN and NC right now . When I get back I would like to talk about that place. I held both tower and radar ticket there.
