The Dark SideFor those members running "Car Tires" on their scoots. This is for their discussion only and not a place for "non dark siders" to mouth off about their negative opinions of this idea!
Howdy folks, newbie here. Trying to make the switch to darkside. I ride a lot. And am getting a bit perturbed by having to get a new rear tire 3 times a month. I ride a lot, did I say?
I gots me some questions:
I have a 160/70 B17 on my wide glide. Is the B17 the same as an R17?
And where the hell can you find CTs for this size?
A British 175/55 R17 I think will fit. Just not sure what the rules are for imported tires.
Another: when running tires for bikes, radials or bias ply? Coker makes some I think will fit but are bias ply, http://www.cokertire.com/m-h-front-r...165-70d17.html Good idea? Bad? Good stories coming from bad decision kind of thing?
Also, I am running a chopper rear fender. I have about an inch of clearance on each side and an inch above. Thus limited on size CTs.
If the pics work you'll see what I ride. Suggestions?
I'm gonna put MC tires on this time... again. But over the winter gonna be researching my butt off. May see if a 14", 15", or 16" will fit without too many changes. CTs in those sizes are a dime a dozen.

I have a 15" rim in my garage that I was going to lace for this very purpose. Then when I took my rear wheel off I realized that the 15" rim probably would not accept the brake assembly due to being to small of diameter. I have been searching for 5 years now and have not found a 17" that would work on a Dyna. Good luck.
Just ordered a matched set, 16 x 5 rear and 18 x 3.5 for the front, off a road king I think. Hell the pair was only $125, maybe 50 miles on them, trade-ins. 1" axle. The Austone Taxi Tire will fit the rear. Haven't decided what I'm going to do with the front yet.
