I had my bike tuned with all the stuff listed below and found out later that I was burning oil badly. So I had the heads rebuilt. Ended up needing new valve guides in both heads. New rings and my 88" cylinders bored to 95". Got the gasket kit and put it together. I have gone about 300 miles. I changed the oil at 50 miles and when I checked the oil after a ride it smelled like gas was in the oil. I pulled the plugs and they are both covered in soot. At least it was not wet from oil. I thought the same program would be good but it does not seem that way.
I would like some help with my start tune. I have an '06 street Bob. 95", Andrews 57h, httc pistons, httc cnc heads, 25* injectors, stock throttle body, and 2-1 exhaust.
I wanted to use DPG176-04. It has bigger displacement, injectors, and a little more cam but the same heads and pistons. Should I look for a different tune before I get started?
If you have a stock 88 with big bore 95, start with a stock stage 1 (a/c + pipe) calibration and increase the ci in the constants table from 88 to 95.
If you have freeflowing exhaust change ci to 100.
If you have a mild cam start with a stage 2 calibration. That has SE 203 cams and will work fairly well with other mild cam profiles.
No matter what calibration you put in the ECM it will still need to be tuned for your bike and its ideosyncracies/variables.
HTH, Bob
Thanks I was looking at se cams and the closest ones I thought were se257 and se257. They both have .569 lift and the Andrews 57h has .560. I will check it out when I get home.
I agree with Bob. Don't pick a map with too big of a cam. You're not comparing lift--try to match intake open/close numbers. Try BNU141-03 for starters. It will still need to be tuned.
