I already thought about doing that since the firmware is lost when battery is removed. There's no way I could remove and replace a battery faster than speeding electrons. Whoever engineered a board that loses firmware when the battery dies should be keel hauled. But, maybe they did that intentionally to generate service income until they eventually stopped servicing it. Then they can make a big sale for new hardware.
My current battery is still alive, and I don't know how long it will live. That is why I want to replace it now, before it dies. I have not opened it up yet. I don't know where the battery is and don't know what type of battery it uses. I suppose I will figure it out.
I might add a harness for a second battery wired in parallel to make future replacement easier. With dual batteries it would be simple to replace one at a time and never lose power to the board. Additionally, if one battery goes bad, then the second one keeps going. I'm sure the batteries are inexpensive. I'll replace them every couple of years to be on the safe side.
The PDF is a bit bigger than this forum will allow me to post. Send me your email and I will get it to you if you want it.

Unfortunately. If your battery has died. The firmware is wiped out. You can source the battery and install it but without being able to reload firmware. It still wont communicate.

That's only thing left that could be keeping it from working.stack lights up except for blinking light indicating that it's reading all modules.thanks for info Pete
