The BEST extension I found was not here in Palm Beach County but Sam Chillaron in Broward County. He is at the Broward County Extension (954) 754-213-4153. He is EXCELLENT!
Also, I attached the handbook that is recommended .... The Florida Yards & Neighborhoods.
Before anyone asks, here are some PIXs. It is a NEW lawn only 30 days young and has not been cut as of yet.
When we lived in the Portland area, the grass upkeep for our lawn, that looked as in the picture from the real estate posting was quite complicated. In the spring:
- rake our all the stuff that rotted in the winter
- over seed
- spread lime
- spread moss killer
- spread grub killer
- fertilize and then fertilize lightly every other week
- when the rains stop, itvimmeditsly dries out, so water 2 times per week.
- cut at medium high height weekly..even in the winter because it still grew some and if it got too long it promoted rot.
I did love walking in it barefoot. Except for the occasional frog or garden snake. I miss a lot of that area. Now I just sit back in the patio while the gardeners take care of the common grounds. But, it does drive me nuts that their work does not meet my basic expectations.

Great time to practice tolerance, love, knowing what u can and cannot control. Above in bold is like a 1st world problem. <-- funi thing to say eh? I understand 100% tho, 100%.
Anyway my good friend MG, yesterday while outside, I went up to the lawn in a few places and put my hand down on it. YES! SOFT it is! Not prickly like S FL lawns usually are.
it's hard to keep the weeds off my lawn, fire ants too which make mounds. It would help if my neighbors mowed more frequently because their weed seeds spread. Oh well.

Right! This is what I found my love.
1. Ortho fire Ant killer <-- VERY bad smelling but works GREAT!!! I think they have it in NEW packaging now.
.
.
2. Do not over water. <-- THAT creates fungi and HELPS weeds to get started. The Broward Extension seems to be the BETTERof the extension around. They say something like 1/2" to 3/4" water a week. OR only water when the grass NEEDS it. Like when the grass blades start to curl inwards. Or u see some browning. THIS less watering makes it so new weeds have a hard time to get rooted.
Beleive me, I know and AGREE abt the neighbors. Oy!

Same here, I have professional weed and fertilizer service but the edges near the neighbor never look as good.
