OK, I've heard you guys talk about Clewiston, and never been there. I have a vacation day coming Monday, and I've decided that the destination is Clewiston.
Now, not knowing anything about it, where do we stop for the best food??? Anybody want to meet up? Looks like a great day to ride, sunny, mid 60's.
We'll be coming down from New Tampa, Hwy 39 to Hwy 98, to Hwy 27. Any spots we shouldn't miss?
IMO, if you're talking good food around Lake O, it's on the N. end of the lake, around Okeechobee City. Either Lightsey's restaurant for seafood or Cowboy's BBQ & Grill.
Had a great lunch today at Cowboys. The BBQ is very good.
I agree with cHarley! I live in Moore Haven, which is between Clewiston and Okeechobee. I work in Clewiston. Go to Okeechobee for the food. Just take 98 all the way across. Cowboys is on 441 just south of 70 and Lightsey's is at the Kissimee River on 78 west of Okeechobee.
I am off on Mondays and would meet up and ride with you if I did not have to go to Gainesville. Maybe another time.

I don't know my plans yet for next week.
cHarley, Sorry I missed you guys. We got to Cowboys about 1:30 pm.
Great BBQ. We only went down the east side of the lake to Big Mike's the cut over to head back east. Short day only 90 miles.
OK, Lightsey's it is. According to the GPS, it's exactly 150 miles. A little shorter than we had planned, but I guess we can take the long route home. Should be there around 11:30-noon. Thanks for the info and hope to see some of you there.

If the ride is a bit short, you can always continue around the lake after lunch to Roland Martin's Tiki bar in Clewiston for a beer. http://www.rolandmartinmarina.com/
BTW: if your doing Lightsey's, think frog legs, gator tail & catfish.
