Thanks for the suggestsions... and JD's joke. (BDM's too). No oil added recently, have not checked the oil in a while, I have one of those digital ones. The little bit of wires I saw did not look melted.
Friday it's going into the dealer to get new handelbars (Heritage style), so I will have them check it as well.
I'd agree that you may have picked something up. Does the smoke appear to be coming from a surface or internally? Below is a pic of what's behind your trans cover if you're interested.
Thanks for th epicture... interesting. Seem to be surface. But I could be wrong. Took it for about a50 mile ride earlier. When I got near home I was stopped at a light and could smell it. Rode into the garage, could maybe see a little smoke but not streaming like yesterday. But it still smelled like electrica.
Just dropped my bike off. The service manage took a look and identified a leak from the transmition. I took Bert's advice and sprayed degreaser on the undersid and washe dit off. So he say the spot right away. But I told him it did not smell like oil buring, it smelled like electrical. I made him note that on the service order.
Down side is they will have the bike all day, I was hoping to do some riding today.
I could change your transmission gasket in 10 mins but I'll need sick pup to avoid me taking 20 breaks in between. Otherwise it takes me all day as well
