Sad but true

This is a joke I got from a friend just thought I would share

Well, we got a call from the Census saying that they didn't understand what
I put down for Race. Apparently "American" is not a recognized race.

What happened? Well.....

The girl on the phone said that she needed a race. What I put down was
not an official race.

"Its not? What is?" I asked.

"All the examples we provided on the form"

"If I was from China - what race would I use?"

"Chinese or Asian"

"From Japan?"

"Japanese or Asian."

"If Japanese or Chinese can use Asian, how do you tell the difference
between the countries?"

(silence on the other end of the phone)

"If I was from Russia?"

"Russian."

I said, "okay, I'm from America, I'm American."

"But you can't use American."

"Why?"

"It's not recognized," she says.

"Check your map recently?"

"Look, I need a race!"

"I gave you one."

"But I told you, 'American' is not an official recognized race!"

"What can I use then?"

"You can use 'other'."

"Ok - I choose that."

"What's the name of the race you want to use?"

"American."

"But you can't use 'American'!"

"Then why do you have an option called 'other'?"

"To use another non-listed recognized race."

"Your form didn't list all recognized races."

"Yes it did."

"No, it listed races of which I'm not."

"But they're all official."

"Then why have 'other'?"

"Are you Caucasian?"

"Yes, but so is someone from Scotland, Holland and Russia to name a couple
of examples."

"Are you from those countries?"

“No.”

"Then give me the race of the country you are from."

"I'm from America - I'm American."

"Thank you. Have a nice evening."

"You can use 'other'."
