Anyhow...Barbara and I are getting ready to ride Charleston, SC. Thought it might be prudent to get a new back tire on the Ultra.
Called Harley....they said 9Am would be fine. Got there, had a cup of coffee ($2..BIG cup)...
Later comes along...bike is ready for pick up. Pay the bill.
$81 freakin' dolllars for an hour labor!! WTF!? I get home, call them and verify LABOR charges. EIGHTY FREAKING ONE DOLLARS A FREAKING HOUR!!!!!!
HOLY ******! My bike wasn't even washed. WTF? $81 an hour?
(The bathroom was clean though...)
If I can't fix it, my bike goes to The Ride Factory in Ybor City...all former H-D techs but 1/2 the labor rate. If you're in Tampa, use The Ride Factory/
Its about right for a dealer, the coffee and wash should have been provided gratis. The costs will be heading north real soon with new mandates on companies coming. The indy's will make out real well with no or less overhead, suggest you hook up with a good indy now. Hell chuck you have lots of them up there and they actually know what they are doing.
We have got three different indys within 20 miles of here that install tires for free. You just buy the tire. I got ripped of in Clearwater by an indy that charged me 120 for the tire and 180 to install it, I never ask how much up front and when I balked he pointed out his fixed rate for tire service posted on the wall in plain view. This rate is for any tire service, One or two tires. What a rip off.
