Many nice roads full of twisties up here. It was one of my good reasons to move up here. I live about 2.5 hours away from the Dragon, but like others have said, there are some wonderful places to discover.
In particular, there is a short piece of road in north Georgia that is called "Wolf Pen Gap Road" that makes the Dragon look like the tame Geico lizard. One end of Wolf Pen t-bones onto Route 129; the same route 129 that makes up the Dragon. Plenty of stretches of 129 are full of wonderful twists.
Enjoy!
Going to mark that road in my GPS. Not far from Helen, GA! Barbara and I stayed in Helen....and many nice roads....any direction you go, and the Dragon is a short two hour ride from there.
I may be UP for a ride to Helen come end of August/September.

Helen is my destination of choice from where I live up here. I have multiple ways of getting there from my house. I go there a lot. Be sure to give me a heads-up when you (or any Florida Crew) head this way.
Yeah the dragon is a good road, but in reality it IS a toourist trap.
You need to ride it and get the T-shirt and then go to other places. There are alot of other roaDS UP THERE THAT ARE MORE FUN.
Don't get me wrong...it is a fun ride , but I prefer other roads....And I will ride it AGAIN.
My personal favorite destination is Dillard Georgia. Very nice little town with wonderful riding, but its not a popular tourist trap so most roads have very little traffic. Its only 15 miles from Franklin NC and 8 miles from Highlands NC
got cuaght in the rain with my droid in my pocket, did not work so good after that. Anyway I'm back home, rode 2300 miles in 6 days, rode all through the smokies and up the Blue Ridge quite a ways. I took a lot of the two lane "twisties" that criss-cross the BRP and that was some some the best riding ever. I can't believe how well my EGC handles those mountain roads. What great way to see the mountains!

Real nice ride ya got in there! Good for you! It is amazing up through those hills/mountains. You have been bitten by the bug now! Those hot summer days back in Florida will get you day dreaming about being back in the hills.
The Skyway was very nice and riding thru the Smokeys is all good, we went in 08 and will be back end of this month. I talked the group into taking the entire Blue Ridge Parkway to add to the adventure on the way there. Beautiful part of the country.
