Rode up from Tampa yesterday and camped at the Kickstand in Stecoah NC. Awesome place, rode the Dragon and all through the Smokies today. Having the time of my life even though the weather sucks.
Dragon is Hwy 129 in Tenn, 11 miles of road, 311 turns. Lot of fun to ride, i thought the Tenn access to it was closed due to a rock slide a month or so ago, wasnt expectedto be open till Jul

Tell Moe and Bobby hi at the Kickstand. Very nice place to stay, centrally located, great people. Glad you are having a great time. I love riding up there.

Thanx for the info. Sounds great. I think they got both rockslides cleared up already, much ahead of schedule. Many more big storms like this, I expect more slides though. Now that it has warmed up, maybe it will hold together. I hope so.
The Kickstand is awesome, can't say enough good things... "I know Mo"!
The full 11 miles of the Dragon is open but they turn you around before the foothills parkway so you can't do the "loop"... Just means you can ride her twice, up and back

The crew rode the Florida dragon leaving DeLand memorial day weekend, it's like a kids version of the -real- dragon. Maybe some day if I get a bike that will run more than 1k miles w/o trouble I'll get up there.
I guess you have to ride it at least once while you are up there...We decided to not ride it...Many other roads that we rode were very good.....MY highway pegs are worn on the tips from Dragging....
It is one of those places all bike riders just have to experience at least once. Beautiful country roads all around that area. Glad you got to enjoy it...
