I was given permission by the better half to go ahead and look into some better shocks for the rear versus the harley air shocks.
I am looking at Progressives 440 and 940 shocks.
Jay recommended the 940's and I understand them to be the best in class. If I am going to spend 500 to 600 bucks they better be the best otherwise, I will hear it from my wife.
I'm running my air shocks at 40psi when we both ride and about 30 when it is just me.
Don't know your weight or the weight of your BSR. I weight 260 and my BSR is 125. I installed the 440HD Progressive and we are very happy. Talk to someone at Progressive with your weight info and how much stuff you carry when you are one-up and get their recommendation. The 940s' just don't carry the load of the 440HD model. HD in this case means Heavy Duty model 440s'.
I am having a set Ohlins made by Howard at motorcycle metal, he is down here in Davie. I test rode a Dyna outfitted with them and I am sold, around the same price range too, maybe a bit more.
I'll second the Ohlins from Howard. The #2's are $640 and Howard offers forum member a nice discount. I personally went with the Ricor 13" shocks because they ride lower. Search for both on the touring forum and you will find plenty of info on them.
