I have been told by a couple of people that i need to get a windshield also. I do see its advantages but dont think i am ready to put one on yet. Looking at bobs picture will make ya think though..lol
I rode for years without one and could not stand them when I was younger but I am not going to leave the house to go more than about 5 miles without one now. Last time I did a long trip without one my back was killing me from fighting the wind on my chest and I swore never again. I just do not get as tired with one. This has all come to light after my accident though and I am still not as strong as I was before. Just part of getting old I guess....Sigh....Check out a Windvest, they help with the wind alot but are not so bulky. Other folks make some smaller sport shields that are not so bulky as well. The Harley ones are way overpriced and do not work very well in my experience. Lost of buffeting behind them. Head on over to the Sporster section and see what those guys are loving.

And we've only got about 2 months before those suckers are back again......
Great way to start off my Friday... too funny there!
Like JD, I was never for windshields on a bike either. Always said "might as well be driving a convertible cage". Although, on my last ride to St. Auggie I did barrow a detachable JD had sittin in his garage. It still didn't look right on my NT, but I damn sure noticed the difference JD speaks of. Before the end of that weekend ride I ended up purchasing it from him. I'll use it for the longer rides, but it stays off around town.
It's up to you. I use one for long highway trips. Also, I'll throw it on at night because of the bugs. It's not the dead ones I mind so much but the ones that are still crawling around on me after I stop. No one could possible enjoy that!
lucky for everyone who's debating about a windshield or not, CB has the quick release compact replacement windshield... if you think you want to ride with one, put it on! after a couple hundreds of miles you decide you dont want to ride with that, take it off! =) simple! ... but I agree, looking at bob's picture... a windshield might b a pretty good investment! =P
Only get one if you never plan to take it off I say initially. I also have/had the quick detatch. The king looks great either way, long hauls with it for reason stated above and cruisin like the badass poser I wanna be without the "wimpshield"
Whenever I take it off, I wonder why I wanted to look more cool than being comfortable. Remember WHO you are riding for! To impress people or for your own enjoyment?
