i had one for a while. road with it a few times and sold it. I had terrible buffering over 60 mph. over 70 and the front up became half assed unstable. mine was a hd quick detach. had it mounted at nose level. you should be able to pick one up on the forum for under 150 and can resell it for that later if you need to.

I still think that's pretty strange. I can run all day long at 80 mph with either my skid lid or 3/4, and don't have any problem with buffeting on my Sporty. And I've had it up well over 100 mph with no bad handling effects.
The wind i take to the chest dont bother me at all. At 1st it was the skid lid trying to lift at 60 that bothered me. I fixed that with a different skid lid. The one i had acted like a parachut. The only thing now that comes to mind is that damn rain hurts.
And we've only got about 2 months before those suckers are back again......
Well i may have to just dodge them. LOL No really ill just have to stay away from where ever they are bad at! Or park the bike wich isnt going to happen. Will see.
That's the beauty of detachable shields. I won't do a long ride w/out one. I'm a fairly strong guy, and after a while I do feel fatigued riding into a 70 mph headwind. Night riding is also a bee-atch without them in dead of summer. Bugs can stang! Last night I was out about 10:30 and it was like riding into a paintball field.
I take mine off so the bugs don't get it dirty(except for long trips). It's on in the winter when there are no bugs. Wimps that don't ride in winter don't need windshields.

I get the buffeting pretty bad on the dyna but its better than the buffeting on the RG I test rode.

That's the way my HD Quick detach one was on the Softail. totally useless and downright dangerous over 70 the buffeting was so bad. Biggest waste of money I ever spent at Harley.
