Murph, I rode the street glide and the Road King before I made my purchase I picked the King then I added the radio and gps. On the SG I felt cramped and confined.

Murph, you are old,,,,, had to be said! Some are in denial,,,,, Some are not,,,, just get a touring bike of your choice.

Least $ choice is the RK (standard), has the great touring suspension, great improvement over the 08 and earlier, has hard bags, get the abs, you need it the way the way you ride.

If you want to buy the last bike of your life get the Ultra limited, remember you are old, so think hard about it.

I am happy you are coming back into the riding fold, would'nt care if it was on a carbon fiber huffy, it will be good seein you more often.

Ooooh... that's a tough choice.

SG has a fairing, RKC does not... advantage SG
RKC has a detachable windshield... advantage RKC
SG has tunes, RKC does not (although they can be added)... advantage SG
RKC has passing lamps, SG does not (although they can be added)... advantage RKC
SG has gauges including a tach, RKC does not... advantage SG
RKC has absolutely KILLER Old Skool looks... advantage RKC
SG has a lowered suspension, and lockable hard bags... advantage SG
RKC has those beautiful tooled leather bags... advantage RKC
They both have the same frame and motor... draw

Are we still tied?

Hmmm... it seems that either you're a New Skool fairing/lowered suspension guy and like the sleek modern SG look, or you're an Old Skool windshield/leather guy and like the classic RKC look. I do think the RKC is still the absolute best-looking scoot the MoCo has EVER produced in their entire history. They look stunning from any angle. I still like to ride our '95 Evo FLHTP with a windshield from time to time. But the SG will be more comfortable on long hauls, and you have built-in tunes.

Either the RKC or SG will handle better than an Ultra - the RKC is lighter, and the SG is lowered and is not nearly as top-heavy as an Ultra. But neither will be as cushy as an Ultra, and they won't have all of the Ultra's creature comforts.

Good luck in making your choice. Get whatever moves your soul the most! It's different for everyone, and you may not even know yourself until your heart tells you what IT wants...

Thanks for the input so far. I made a mistake in the original post. It was not the RKC, but RK. i don't want leather saddle bags. Had them on my previous bike. Didn't really like them. So the only difference between the bikes will be the fairing. Again, I really appreciate the input. It is giving me a lot to think about.

Well, in that case I'd consider the SG - tunes and a fairing. Can't remember if they come with cruise though. The RKC does, but the RK doesn't. More MoCo market segmentation for you.

Always just follow your heart. It never lies... you just have to listen to it...

BlueDragon had the same dilemma. He test rode them both... and Before he took off on them, I took his picture. In the pictures, he looked more comfortable on the SG.
