Camel Kisser and I are taking a spring fling to Maggie Valley next month. We are leaving Thursday April 19 around 4 am plan to arrive back home sometime Thursday April 26. The first day we are planning on riding the interstate to somewhere north of Atlanta then looking for a room somewhere in Poorboys neck to the woods. The next day we are heading up 19 to Cherokee then picking up 441 to Gatlinburg spending the rest of the day there and part of the next morning. Marie really likes it there and I promised last time to ride that chair lift thingy up the mountain. Then its back out through the national park the way we came in back towards Cherokee and pick up the parkway outside Cherokee to Maggie Valley. The night of the 22nd 23rd and 24th we plan to stay at A Holiday Motel. The morning of the 25 its back on the road south until we get tired. No route planned but will probably be 23 down to I-85 and around the Atlanta loop, would like to get in sight of the Florida line and finish getting home the next day.
Anyone who wants to tag along for as far as they want is more than welcome. At the motel in Maggie they have grills and we like to cook out in the evenings. Non rolling roller dogs and the like so I can cover those things, if I am cooking a couple more wont make a difference. We like to keep it cheap. Since they have microwaves we usually get some little breakfast bowls for the morning and lunch meat for the afternoons.
But by no means does anyone have to do what we do,eat what we eat or go where we go. If anyone is interested let me know.
The only reservation I am going to make will be for a place in Gatlinburg, and I will be doing that very soon, otherwise we are going to wing it. Dont anticipate a problem getting a room at the A Holiday Motel but we do intend to stay there, they treated us right last time and enjoyed out stay.
I know you had time off for the Georgia crew rally, just slide it back a couple weeks! Keep scheming. I am going to look at that wayaha rd you mentioned. I know right where it comes off 19 but not sure where it ends on the east.
Wayah road runs from Nantahala off of 19 to hwy 64 just west of Franklin. That's a great ride. If you are going west on 64 from Fraklin you have to take a right on Patton Road and Wayah is you first left. Make sure you are full of gas because you ain't getting none out there. I am still hoping I can tag along with you, I can show you roads around Franklin that no one knows about except for folks that grew up around there.
The Georgia Crew rally for me has turned into a 6 day 11 state trip during that same week. Let me check and see if I can sneak a couple of days off.....
Can't do the whole duration, but can figure on Maybe the first Friday, Sat, and home again Sunday.
Folks.... I have two spare bedrooms before the couches come into play. I'll work a half-day on Thursday if you want to make the first stop at my place. (already cleared with Patti... LOL).
I'll be watching and keeping my ears open. Call or PM me for any sort of input. Would LOVE for Just Dave and better half to be part of the trip. Very excited for a back roads tour up through Franklin.
Matters not where or which roads are taken. I am a non-vote. Just want to wander around the hills with some buds.
This sounds like a Let's Get Twisted party.
I'm headed up that way (Franklin NC) probably April 16th or 17th and will be there for a couple of weeks. Franklin is only an hour from Maggie, I'll plan on hooking up with you for a couple of days at the Holiday.

Sounds awesome.
Damn, now this is starting to sound like another good G2G.
I couldn't make the "other" planned event up there in May. It'll be good to see you again Paul.
