Try doing that crossing the Atchafalaya Basin bridge which is over 20 miles long with HEAVY STEADY TRAFFIC .. TO TRY AND PULL OVER IN BLINDING RAIN IN THAT SITUATION IS A DEATH WISH .. My replacement cell phone was $21.00 rather take that alternative anytime .. Cell phone in the tour pack won't help you much if you highside and go flying 40 feet away from the Bike all busted up .. Looking into a waterproof container to hold one in though ..

You just reminded of the one real scare I had on the way home from AZ.... cruising across that bridge in late evening traffic...when brake lights start coming on in front of me...seems two idiots thought it was a good idea to change a tire in the middle of the bridge in the right hand lane...yeah you might ruin a rim limping it off the bridge...but it would be better than just stopping and blocking one lane of a two lane bridge...(sorry to hijack your thread Jay)
