Oil helps a bit but syn is mainly to protect the engine better under high heat and high stress running. The pipe and tune is the best for cooling. I rented an 09 Ultra in Frankfurt in 09 and promptly lit my jeans on fire , had the exact bike here in Fla at the time (both new) and it ran cooler than the German Ultra in hotter weather, I think its the tunes they have to put in the bike there to meet Euro EPA requirements. As far as a tune is concerned talk to Doc or take a ride over to my guy in Dallas, a good tune will do wonders for heat and performance. The crotch cooler is good for your toothpick and olives. The fan will keep the motor and heads cool but the heat you are getting is actually coming from your exhaust and lean running tune.

removing the heat is better than deflecting it, but like everyone is saying the crotch cooler will at least keep it off you twig and berries. LOL
I am thinking I will be getting one for my wifes heritage. I have not done anything to her exhaust yet.
good luck

I did find that the twig and berries did get a bit on the warm side.
Found out just before I left that Syn3 is a blend, not full synthetic.
I think that if you buy a "Crotch Cooler" from Larry (aka Captain Itch), he might even throw in a tube of the new "Captain Itch Twig and Berry Ointment". I'm not sure if it is a blend, it might be fully synthetic...
Looks like I am gonna look into a crotch cooler... especially since it comes highly recommended
After some careful scientific study today I did discovered timing (of the day) is everything... riding when the heat index is 104 is not the "coolest" thing to do. Once the afternoon started to turn to the evening, then to night, the ride was more bearable per say.
I ride in Okinawa Japan. It is jungle humid hot here and I have only been using an oil cooler. It works fine(only when moving of course) and I never have excessive heat issue. Other then that i would say bikers been riding hot for many years, it is what it is.
