This was my first rally, I had just as much fun at the motel, meeting new friends as I did riding. Hade a great time, good food, a few drinks, I think being at the motel is as important as the rides. Either way works for me, will see you in Ocala!!! David
I like the tradition of the November date, but being a public servant if I take the Sunday off before veterans day I give up a couple hundred dollars in free overtime. But its important enough to me to give it up to hang with my friends so whatever you all want is fine with me.
The gov't does not select when the sun rises or sets. We decide when to wake up. Want to ride in the dark? Fine. Most people at the Rally are usually gone by the time Barbara and I get up and around anyhow. The holiday weekend ads a day for me. I am not sure if I am going this year, but I put my vote towards November anyhow. I might bring Barbara just for the poker match.
I kind of like the November weekend myself but whatever the majority decides, I will do. I would sure hate it for the ones that already have their vacation days set at work if it was changed to October.
I voted for Nov...I don't know if I will still be here in Oct or Nov....but Oct is biketoberfest.....too hard to get 2 parts of vac off in the same month.

No, it will not be a done deal, This ain't no democracy, you would have to have rules for that. Big Dawg just brought it up and I did not really know why we do in in November, its just the way its always been. I just started this tread to see what the general consensus was from folks and why. It seems that most of the folks that have replied that they want it left in November have reasons such as vacations, other plans etc. On the other hand, folks that want it moved just do. Have not seen any compelling reasons why from the October camp other than the time change. Additionally, every one of the folks that has voted for Oct has stated that it does not really matter to them one way or the other. Looks like its 15 to 13 in favor of Oct right now omitting folks that voted that do not live here and that we do not know that just voted anyway. The reasons why are more important that how many in this case IMO. If anyone feels differently about it, please step up and sound off.
No one is really in charge here but I suggest that we just leave it alone and keep it on the three day weekend and away from biketoberfest. Steevo can not change his vacation so that is reason enough by itself to leave it alone. If someone wants to bring this up again at the rally itself this year that would be better since everyone would be available to vote in person. I am sure lots of people have not even seen this yet and folks need to get on with their plans.
It might have been useful to have an option which said 'don't mind either way'.
Could somebody organize the weather for this year so it's not as cold as last year, even though I wasn't able to make it I know it was cold. Some of us are southern softies.
