No one is really in charge here but I suggest that we just leave it alone and keep it on the three day weekend and away from biketoberfest. Steevo can not change his vacation so that is reason enough by itself to leave it alone. If someone wants to bring this up again at the rally itself this year that would be better since everyone would be available to vote in person. I am sure lots of people have not even seen this yet and folks need to get on with their plans.
Thanks, Dave.
I think it's perfectly normal to question why things are, and strive to make things better if possible. This reminds me of the past discussion to move the rally location to somewhere other than the Days Inn. I think that it was a healthy discussion, and valid points were made. And YES, the Days Inn is a dump, but it's OUR dump. I sided with Tradition then, as I do now.
But sometimes we are forced to change, and these discussions give us a chance to adapt to these situations, should they arise. If the Days Inn should ever meet the wrecking ball, we would be wise to already have a short list of possible locations for the rally. And a change of venue might lead to a change of the dates for the Rally. And the start of a new Tradition...
So what I'm trying to say is... If it's cold as heck at the Rally, and pitch dark at 4pm, BLAME STEEVO!!! (that's why I'm here)
Silly question... people keep saying no to October as it is too close to biketoberfest... why not have it DURING biketoberfest? That would open up an additional ride destination. 2 birds 1 stone and all that...

Based on Rally history, there are always late room reservations by some, and Biketoberfest crowds spill over to Ocala for lodging. I imagine it would be difficult to accommodate everyone at the same or any other area hotel/motel. We would likely have to the book rooms a year in advance and then wouldn't be able to accommodate newcomers.
TMK, the room rate we get at the Days Inn does not apply during special events like Biketoberfest.
And then there's getting people back from the Daytona events in time for the BBQ.
Good points Charlie, at the end of the day, we have a set date and some of our members are Gubberment employees or or have jobs that you need to put in your vacation before the next year starts. It seems late and (I hate this word) "unfair" to change at this point. If you want to change for 2014 now would be a good time to post a poll.

Since 2007 the members of the Florida Crew have gathered in Ocala Florida for a rendezvous if you will to ride together and break bread together but mostly to tell lies and drink.
As it will be this year for the past several years it has been on Veteran's Day Weekend. Some start arriving as early as Wednesday and some stay later.
If you miss it then you spend the next year having to here the stories about what all went on and you don't want that.
