After a LOOONG day of riding, pulled into a McD's lot to make a phone call. I stopped, pulled my phone out of my pocket, and started to dismount. The bike fell over, breaking off the end of the clutch lever when it hit the ground. Yep, I was tired and forgot to deploy the kickstand. What an idiot.... SO, I picked it up, put down the stand, and went in for a cuppa and a bite. Nobody even saw it, let alone came out to help. I stopped at the dealer on the way home to get a new lever. Still laugh remembering it!
I got one more for you. This was back in 79 or 80 and i had just put a new air cleaner on the shovel. We are at a food and beer joint and were leaving about 10 p.m.
Made it about a mile and one of the guys bikes started acting up and we all pulled over on the side of the road. My right foot ended up on the grass and you guessed it, down we went. Wife rolled down into the ditch and i came up madder than hell thinking a boogered up my new air cleaner.
Got down to a near by gas station and dismounted, pissed off and drop kicked my helmet which went about 45 feet and hit the wife right in the shin standing with all the other gals.
08 Sturgis at the Chip. Wake up, and ridin to the bathrooms. Some other camper hosing down something or other. Dirt road with a puddle and went around. Much to my surprise hit some mud and *** end swung out and down I went. Pretty covered in mud, but he helped me up and let me hose down. Bent peg I think. Got back to the site and the crew didn't believe me at first. If you can't laugh at yourself ........
