So hubby and I rode out to Indiana shortly after 4th of July. We took a slight detour and stopped in Sturgis, MI at the HD dealer there. We got shirts, but forgot to get dealer pins.
After two emails to the dealer asking if they could send me pins, I got a response of "sure". I gave them all the info they needed and all was good with the world.
Monday I got home and in the mail I found an envelope from the dealer. It was a very nice envelope, but it was completely empty - not even an invoice was in there. It was obvious that the flap had not been sealed, so the contents just fell out somewhere on its journey.
I called the dealer and basically it was tough luck. I am out pins and money. They said that my mail must have been "hijacked". Yeah, I live in the country - they aren't hijacking the computer software and parts I have mailed all the time, I'm kind of guessing no one is hijacking a couple of pins (wouldn't they just take the whole freaking thing?). Not only that, the envelope wasn't ripped, and all the gum is still on the flap portion - none on the main portion - so I'm pretty sure this is a packaging issue.
They did say they could send more, at a cost (again). Yeah, cause I have faith they can package them properly this time.
Just p*sses me off. Learned my leasson though, will never order anything from another dealer unless I can pick the stuff up in person.
I don't even know what a dealer pin is. And I never know what to do with the pins I get from safety courses and AMA membership. I guess Ignorance is bliss.
Sorry you got cheated. Do you put these pins on a vest?

Same here. Guess they must put them on vests so they can show everywhere they've been. Sorry the dealer doesn't know how to seal an envelope.
And really, because some monkey working for that particular dealer couldn't summon up enough spit to seal that particular envelope, that doesn't translate to "never order anything from another dealer unless I can pick the stuff up in person", but whatever floats yer boat.
