Default Changing the Oils

Im getting ready to change the oils in my bike and have heard different things and am looking for to find out what works. Ive heard that you can run Mobile 1 V twin oil in the engine as well as the primary and tranny. Is this recomended? Im pretty much a novice when it comes to maintainance of my bike but trying to work on it and learn as i go. Oh by the way its a 95 softail custom. Thanks.

Yes you can. Take a look at the oil forum and you'll get more advice that you'll probably want...

Just don't ever use ...... because if you do you'll spin your bearings and make the motor noisy and leak oil and get poor gas mileage and lose your wife.

I was even told by the parts guy at a Harley Dealer that you can run Syn3, or regular 20/50 in all three holes. Personally, I used Syn3 in the motor and primary, but Royal Purple 75/90 in the tranny. I like the Royal Purple from past experiences but any GOOD oil, regular or synthetic, will be fine as long as you use the correct grade and change regularly. Don't get Jimmy Joes Black Gold and run it for the life of the bike.
