So I'm in the cage over the weekend. I come upon a flock of birds which I have several times. I never slow down, they always fly away. Well, as I am going through this flock of birds I hit one with the grill of the truck, it flipped up and hit the windshield (didn't break it). So I guess they don't always fly away.
I picked a dead sparrow up off the sidewalk and depositied its little body behind a tree so it could rest in peace. It was when I bit into my donut at break I remembered birds die from West Nile virus here in Sacramento. I suddenly have an urge to call my mummy...
Last summer I was on a ride with some members from this forum, and a bird flew up out of a ditch and hit me in the side of the face. Scared the hell out of me and left a little mark. Birds are weird.
Had a bird try to fly thru my spokes a couple of years ago, it didn't make it. My buddy that was on my 6 got covered in feathers a bird guts. He was pissed.

When iI had my crotch rocket I caught 1 to the head at 90 with no helmet. Thank god it was flying sideways. I caught one to the shin on the same bike. Since I got my harley I had my hand resting partially on my leg and tank and one hit my hand. I have no luck when it comes to them darn critters.
i had a barn owl commit suicide into my windshield one night.. I say commit suicide because I was parked in a Taco Bell parking lot (open late yeah!). I never like it when birds or animals are killed by my vehicles. I had a hawk fly into my truck , I was driving OTR at the time. Almost hit a black bear in the keystone state,.. came out onto the highway out of the woods.
I have never been hit with a bird while riding on the bike though, couple of real close calls, but no impact.. I have had some bugs so big they could have passed for birds ..
