rpbrown, was the riding in the Arbuckles any better? I would like to head down there if its worth it. Any scenic routes with decent road surfaces?
I am from MN and we have much colder weather than OK and also have freeze/thaw cycles in the fall and spring. The roads up there get bad, but they settle down and heal, here they are not getting better! Go figure...
Oddly nough, the back roads were better than the main roads. Nice scenery and some twisties. We turned off the main roads and just got lost. It was a good time just to be out riding without the blasted wind.
OKC is actually quite a bit better than I was expecting, as far as thinks to do, places to go, places to eat, games/concerts to go to etc. But the roads really do suck bad. And it's too hot.
Yep, the roads are in pretty poor shape in certain areas. But have been that way for quite some time. Tulsa has been spending money on bridges and widening several highways, but some of the arterial streets are suffering without that Federal money.
But in Oklahoma's defense, I have been in Florida (even around West Palm Beach) with some crappy roads too. Also have been to Detroit...some horrible, cratered out highways there...
It is everywhere folks, aging infrastructure being ignored...
