Default Reason for fingerless gloves
Never seen it brought up here, fingerless gloves do have a purpose. I always wondered why a rider would use them.
I bought some while on vacation, it was really hot in the western desert so I gave them a try. They are cooler and most important... I can pick my nose while riding. Now I also know why some of us have a rag hangin off the handlebars.

I was gonna say so you can still pick your nose while riding but I see the OP has already figured that out.

Smoking is one. I prefer the risk of taking a full glove off long enough to grab and light. Than wearing all the time. Pavement can be brutal on skin!

I think I got those folks figured out. The ones who scream "gay poser" whenever they hear mention of fingerless gloves are in fact insecure and timid people. They avoid anything that may attract attention to them. They don't want to get their *** kicked for impersonating a "bad *** biker". So they must flame people who wear them to justify their paranoia.
I may be wrong but I think that's it.

I like them because you don't have to take your gloves off at the gas station to reach for your wallet. They are also cooler in the summer too
