Unfortunately, no. However, I can and do help anybody who needs it to get through a rough time. Once in awhile, I'll meet someone who knows a recent amputee & I'll give them my number so their friend can call. I never knew any other amps when I lost my arm & that made the transition harder than it had to be, I suspect.
I didn't lose a limb but in Somalia I instantly went from someone who could compete in an Iron Man no problem, parachute, dive, climb mountains etc. I basically was never still. I pushed myself harder than I thought possible every day.
Next thing I know I am in Germany in a wheelchair being told that they didn't know if I would ever walk again. For 6 months I was in that thing. I had to self catheterize myself to take a **** and other very unpleasant things.
I finally got back to my duty station back in Hawaii. All I could think of is that I had to do something. So after many surgeries I fully recovered but it was really hard. I couldn't have done it without my wife. I can't climb mountains anymore and when I run every morning it hurts and I am much slower bu I am blessed that I can run.
So I think I know a little bit about what you went through to get back on that bike and ride. And when I tell you that you are obviously made of the right stuff, I mean it.

I kinda know what ya mean...On top of the arm thing I broke my hips & had six external pins for over three months, so I didn't start walking again for nearly four. Plus the compound femur fracture, the busted shoulder (four inch plate, seven screws) & let us never forget the hernia!
The fact is, folks like us (& BP. I didn't forget ya!) will NEVER stay down. The day we curl up & admit defeat is the day we die! WE ROCK!
