You've got me but have witnessed the phenomena several times over. Some immediately want to pack up and form a "gang". It's like: "Instant *******; just add a Harley Davidson." It's the main reason my husband and I started riding by ourselves 90% of the time.

I hear ya GG
most of the old crew from 25-30 years ago have passed on and I can count on one hand people I'll ride next to.
My 20yo boy got himself a Sporty couple months back and I love riding with him
pull the head out of your *** and re-read my first post.
its not rich vs. poor or young vs. old
I said that if you bought your first harley at 50, after raising kids, having a career or holding your wife's purse, you're not exectly "live to ride ride to live" type.
just be who you are, stop pretending or playing dress-up like a silly teenage girl and go ride your bike past the bar.
btw, I consider myself an opinionated motorcycle enthusiast not a biker.
I had no beef with your original post - that's why I didn't reply to it: it's all a fair question. And I agree with what you say above, too.
I interpreted your later post as the typical "real biker" crap that is so prevalent around here, and that's what riles me up. If I read you wrong, then I will indeed extract my head from my ***.
BTW, any club that welcomes bankers but not builders is not a club worth being in. Exclusive is not a good thing, and THAT is why I like the bike world: it welcomes anyone who wants to be a part of it, and we shouldn't (IMHO) give a rat's *** what they wear, do for a living, etc. For the clothes, etc: imitation is the sincerest form of flattery - they want to be part of something that they perceive positively.
Be no different than a bunch of Ironworkers deciding to hang at the country club and playing "Banker"
Having said all this, the Yuppies did save HD to a degree. I'm OK with that.
Well put.
But I'd rather HD saved themselves with competitive motorcycles instead of banking on a fad. There is just something cool about legitimacy. Ask the country-clubing old money about the new-money lotto-trash and you'll get the same attitude. People just love to hate.

Part I don't get is that some folks think riding a Harley means physical altercations. What's up with that? Hell, most of us are too old to fight for more than a few minutes. We'd just shoot yer *** and be done with it.
Riding is all about feeling good, not feeling bad. If I want to feel bad I'll just come to work on the weekends instead of riding up to Plymouth for a great greasy breakfast at the Dead Fly Cafe.
One other small thing: to people like Manninagh who have a less than a 100 posts, how about a little civility until you figure out what's going on around here?
This is the reason I sold my Harleys because I couldn't stand the culture anymore or the over priced bikes. Harley will put their name on anything.......ANYTHING! They have built this bullsh!t tough guy image and it kills the whole experience of the riding their motorcycles. So you ask, why am I still here? To Troll of course what other reason would I have to hang out with you dirtbags.....I'm just here until I kicked out which is hopefully soon....

yup... its the old
"if i'm thretened, i'll run ... if you catch me, i'll shoot you" ...
i try to be respectful to old people, as they don't run very fast

Problem for you is that some of us are indeed "bad asses" as you put it. In the meantime troll away. Makes me happy to know we can make your day a little brighter...
