RoaringRigid kinda summed up the gist of this thread's underlying meaning. Getting hassled for no reason other than to amuse law enforcement is wrong. I wonder if I had long hair and beard and looked like a real badazz if the local leos would come after me and screw with me for no reason? Yes it's a sad indictment of some todays law enforment that have choosen to violate our basic rights. I thank all the decent law enforcement officers who do their job correctlly without prejudice.
Nail meet hammer... I completely agree. There are still cops out there who do not subscribe to the lazy *** way to reduce crime. Pretense stops whether forced by the cop as described earlier in the thread or are crap.
If a cop is too lazy to do his or her job and instead drives around looking for the easy marks he or she is missing a crap load of stuff going on.
I will say the cops in the area of Belmont, San Mateo, Rwd City and surrounding areas have all been extremely courteous and professional. I personally have never felt harassed or messed with.
It really does make a difference in the community.
You know I've been riding to and from work at all hours of the day. Going to work on midnights or coming home at varied hours in the early morning at 1,2,3,4,am. I see all types of law enforcement sitting off to the sides with no lights on waiting for whoever. Here is my point, why am I never hassled or stopped? Only once did an officer follow me but he was already rolling and pulled off after probablly running my plate. I'm in full jeans and a half helmet but short hair with a goatee but not a long one. I would think the leo's would think they hit the jackpot with a guy on a bike with louder but not real loud pipes going by at 3am after the bars closed?
On the bizzare chance that you are being sincere---------------cops at that time of night are looking for drunk drivers. You just look like every other old guy with money on a bike. Why would they be worried about you?
Years back I got rousted regular but a hard looking guy on a bike wasn't common and the profile usually fit . Today you can't throw a dead cat and not hit a bike , they know most guys on a bike anymore are clean finger nailed grandfathers .
LOL yeah buddy!!! Back when, a rider was more likely young guy - now grey is the predominate hair color if they still have any LOL
I have been pulled over in Downey, East LA, Huntington Beach and San Bernardino . All gang tagged and profiled. That was about 8 years ago but have not had a problem since then.
