I have always respected and listened to older people, crazy what you can learn. Now that I am older, I know I am older because my wife keeps telling me I am, I still listen and learn. Not sure where I heard this but it feels so true especially for an old hell raiser, "worst thing about getting older is there comes a point when men no longer fear you" That is except for the As$ 20 years younger that called me out this summer and got his a$s handed to him!

When I was growing up, the thing that most kids did in the evenings was to listen to the old folks talk. My Grandaddy was a man of incredible wisdom, and all in my large family sought his wisdom. And the rest of us listened and learned. I miss those days. That doesn't happen much anymore, I guess.
Another thing: A term we don't hear about much anymore is Craftsmanship. This was developed by another term we don't hear about any more - Apprenticeship. The Apprentice learned from the Master, improvement evolved into greater Craftsmanship. The work ethic today does not hold a light to the type shown by "The Greatest Generation", IMHO.
Old Men are survivors.
"A wise old owl sat in a tree
looking and listening to all he could see,
The less he spoke the more he heard
Why can't we be like that wise old bird?"
