Another +1 for Ruku. $4 for WiFi from the comp and like $6 a month for Netflix and we are considering doing Amazon for another $6 a month. Been happy so far. Been using it for 2 years now.
What do you use to get local news and the typical "Big 3" network stuff?
Was an early subscriber to Netflix, started out with a Roku, got the "1080" capable new model and it didn't work for squat, so got a new blu ray player that was cheaper, worked better, and connected to even more stuff. I'd say Roku's are a waste of money now, just about everything that hooks up to a tv will stream what you want; if my dvd player quits, I could use the game console. I get the broadcast stuff over the antenna, but seldom watch it. Netflix has more than I'll live long enough to watch, and in spite of what the news media says (Netflix is a major competitor for many of their owners, remember), Netflix gets most content, just not right now. All the shows I watch get streamed in less than a year - a few have even had "half seasons" before the second half finished airing, and even if someone saw them six months earlier, they're new for me. I hate commercials, and really like watching one or two series straight through before starting something else. Never missed satellite when I cut it. I'm on the 2 disk and streaming with Netflix, fraction of the cost of anything else. For retired folks like me, it's fun to watch shows and movies I liked as a kid (Netflix seems to have most of them) and see how bad they look now - although some older movies I'd rank with the best of today.
Been using a streaming device for 2 years. Mine is a Roku. I subscribe to Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime. It's about $24 per month. I get all the major networks and local news included in the free stuff off the air w/ a power antenna.
I've never heard of Roku. When I saw the name, I thought it was Japanese or something. But I have a dish and when I got my bike, I had them kill 150 channels, which cut my bill in half. I need the extra money for payments! I should have done it years ago.

Well after weeks of study'in the Roku forum and other opinions, I bought me a Roku 2 XS last weekend. I could not be happier. That's a bad *** little box. I already have more free **** on it than I will ever watch. W00T.... Even gots a free **** channel!! There are hundreds of free privete channels to explore. I already have over 100 free channels...... It is worth the $79 I paid for it from the Roku website.
Already had both AppleTV and Roku. Recently got a new BluRay player and it has more available content than the other 2 combined. If I was in the market today for cable replacements I would just get a wi-fi BluRay player.
